Boyzone Singer Died Of Natural Causes

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

Boyzone singer Stephen Gately died of natural causes, a court official in Majorca has said.

Stephen was on holiday on the island with his partner Andy Cowles when he died in his sleep on Saturday.

Now medical experts have been checking his body to find out why he died. They found that he had fluid in his lungs which stopped the singer breathing.

The officials added that Stephen's family are now allowed to take his body home to Ireland for a funeral.

Managed by X Factor judge Louis Walsh, Boyzone were one of Britain's biggest boybands and had loads of hits in the 1990s, including six UK number ones.

Before the group decided to take a break in 2000, Stephen became one of the first stars of his time to openly reveal that he was gay and had a boyfriend.

Boyzone made a comeback in 2007 and more than 250,000 fans watched them perform during a concert tour in 2008. They also toured earlier in 2009, and were planning to make a new album in 2010.
